This painting, part of the "September, October" series is a poem, a dark vision of America the Beautiful that now seems in transit toward an unknown future of division, cruelty, and retribution. A future whose cornerstone will be violence, bigotry and bottomless ignorance. This painting supposes that in the aftermath of this loss, for citizens and immigrants alike, only the ghosts of our dreams for the future will remain.
